Ever had one of those days where it felt like nearly everything you did went wrong?
Last Sunday was one of those days.
I had it in my head that I was going to take Christmas card photos of the girls at home. My mom had bought them both beautiful, matching dresses. I have a nice camera. I was too lazy to drive anywhere else to take photos. No problem.
After one hour and over 100 photos taken between Stu and I, we had ZERO good photos.
Parenting fail #1.
I had promised Delia that we would go to an indoor play area directly following their cooperation with the photos. However, I was not counting on things to take so long and go so poorly. Alaina was exhausted and so was Delia. This required a delay for a nap which resulted in me breaking my word.
Parenting Fail #2
The good news is that BOTH girls took a nap. That is CRAZY. Seriously, Delia has not napped at home in months or years.
Parenting victory #1
After 1.5 hours, I woke the girls up. This did not make them happy, but a promise was a promise. We arrived at the play area 1 hour before it closed. It was deserted. Delia insisted on playing in the toddler area and was too scared to go into the 4 and up area to climb and play by herself. I was crabby about it.
Parenting Fail #3
After getting the troops ready to go, I was getting everyone situated into the van to head home. I managed to actually pinch the end of Alaina's tongue in the chest clip of her seatbelt! OMG. There was blood. And tears. From both of us.
Parenting Fail #4
On the way home, Delia decided to try her negotiation skills out on me.
"So, Mom. When we get home, I think you need to apologize to Alaina. If you do that, you can let me watch a movie."
I am not sure what to think of this, but she is one devious girl. And one smart cookie. Way to play the guilt card!
Anyway, we did manage to survive the evening without any trips to the ER. But yuck. I wanted a do-over.

Oh boy have I had days like this!
Man, can I totally relate. We all have days like this.
None of it was a parenting fail! These are the moments that MAKE you a parent! You're a survivor! :-)
Kelly Jo... I can totally relate. With a 3 and 5 year old, they play as a team against me. It's a nasty team most of the time... they are dangerous! I feel like I have epic fails several times each day, and I don't even see them for like 9 hours each weekday! I think it's just part of the territory. Please let me know if you find a solution! :)

I'm so sorry! How rough!
I hate days like that. :) Sending you a big hug. Happy Holidays!
